Higher education problems in America haunt everyone. It is up to the students to realize its importance. This problem is due to students not coming to school regularly.
All over America, the faculty has a tough job on its hands to convince students about the importance of coming to school on a regular basis. It becomes all the more difficult when the parents do not address this issue. The most glaring example is found in middle and high school. As a result students are lacking in aptitude when it comes to higher education.
A large number of schools have woken up to the crisis situation coming from attendance. They are trying to address the issue on a war footing so that higher education problems in America may subside.
The following methods have been suggested by policymakers and educationists to improve the drought arising from attendance in schools.
First and foremost a healthy atmosphere should be created. Especially those students who are in their teens should not shy away from coming to school regularly. There should be some extra curricular activities thrown in to enliven the atmosphere.
Secondly the students should be made to understand that they are in no circumstances allowed to skip class. This should be brought to their notice in the beginning of the semester. This should help decrease higher education problems in America to some extent.
Third, students should learn from their Principal, teachers and other staff. School authorities should set a good example by not taking unnecessary leaves or going on an unnecessary vacation. There could be some exceptions but the general rule should be followed by one and all. This should also help decrease higher education problems in America to some extent.
Fourth method is to have a parents teacher meeting at the beginning of each semester and the parents should be made to understand why regular attendance is important for high school students. If the student is absent for a short period, ask the parent to send a note giving explanation. If the student is absent for a longer period, then the school counselor’s advice should be sought by the parents.
The fifth and last method is to have one rule for everyone in the school. Some teachers do not bother if a student is absent, while another teacher may go to the extent of being extreme with the student. This leaves a wrong impression in the mind of the student and he/she ends up being confused.
If implemented these methods will bring cheer to those who worry about higher education problems in America.
