The grading system in a class is the latest method of examining the child’s performance.
Giving marks to the child is an old way of judging the child. Modern methods of teaching are now using grading systems. In a grade a child is judged and there is an average judgment. Marks are more competitive and as such the children become more prone to competition.
In a grade, there is a general scale for the child. A good grading policy will demarcate the bright from the average child. The intelligent child should not be kept in the same category as an average child.
The special areas to consider are essays and written work. Essays and other written material can be graded; however, subjects like math and computers should be graded. Some prefer to give marks in these subjects.
Grading that is done in essays and writing methods is very effective. When grading a child in an essay, you can ask the child to improve the essay and so you can continue to improve the grades as well.
The grading policy should keep all factors in mind. For example, if there is grade in English essay, then all the areas should be covered in the grade. Like writing style, grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, relevancy of the subject to the topic, etc. The grading done in any written subject like literature or essay writing should be done with the method of evaluating the student’s work with the help of criteria like expression of idea, emotion, displaying imagination, possessing unity, and indicating the true essence of the subject.
To grade a child properly keep all the criteria in mind and then those students who have incorporated all the criteria successfully should be awarded a grade of A. The students not fulfilling all the criteria should be awarded lower grades. The grading policy should consider all the criteria and then give marks accordingly.
A grade system is important as it discourages the student from having a red mark on their report card. It is very important for keeping the child morally high. You can create a worksheet of the students where you can grade the student just by dividing the number of problems correct by the total number of problems to get a percentage that can be transformed into grades according to your specifications.
Always keep in mind that grading has to be done honestly and the best students deserve the best grade.
