The Internet has become very popular and almost everyone is using the Internet. Children of all ages are using the Internet to keep in touch with their peers and friends. There are many disadvantages of cyber bullying making it one of the most serious higher education problems in America.
One is that many times the child through the Internet tries to dominate other children. It is a new phenomenon and cyber bullying is a new term. Through this one child will try to threaten or harass a person through email, chat rooms, mobile phones and other technologies. This is getting more popular as more people are using these types of technologies.
The cyber bully is faceless
The cyber bully can remain anonymous and do this bullying. You will not know the source of the bullying. Many times children are caught and then what is the result. It has been held by many parents that it was an invasion of their privacy.
The parents have to keep a check on the child so that as Internet users, the child does not infringe on anyone’s privacy or bully some other child. To prevent cyber bullying you can keep yourself safe by not giving your personal information in the chat rooms. You should not disclose you email-id or phone number to strangers.
Where the cyber bully lurks
The cyber bully uses chat rooms, email, cell phones, instant messaging and text messaging to bully the person by insulting, threatening, demeaning harassing, deceiving , etc. This all is done without showing the real person and hiding behind the Internet making it the number one reason why it tops the list of higher education problems in America. The cyber bullying takes an ugly turn during the teen years and at this time the comments are generally sexual in nature and there are often altered pictures which are posted on many sites.
The bully is generally a person who knows the child well and sometimes in a childish way wants to get back for some incident. Many times the children don’t tell the parents that they are being bullied as they fear that the computer will be taken a way from them. There are many repercussions of this type of bullying and there are psychological repercussions of the bullying.
Take precautions and prevent cyber bullying
To avoid cyber bullying we have to take some precautions ourselves so that in the future cyber bullying will be removed from the list of higher education problems in America. The first is that the child must know that there is always someone to help stop the bullying. The parents, school teachers, principal of the school all are there to help the victims of cyber bullying. Never pass your personal information on the net to strangers. Try to avoid your real name, in its place it is better to use a screen name. Never respond to the harasser who is bullying you. Keep a record of all the bully mails you are receiving by saving it and keeping a hard copy. Try to get the details of the bully and make a compliant.
