The difficult work is to keep students in class. But perhaps the most difficult thing would be to make the students listen to the k-12 teacher.
As one such person, you are likely to face a lot of challenge from the iPod, the mobile tugged up under the shirts, and the head sets concealed behind long hair.
Kids are natural pranksters. Even you and your friends were when you all went to school.
But as a trained k-12 teacher, you will not throw the prankster out of the class or dump them in the detention room. Better punish them by making them get involved in the exciting lessons you have in mind, and yes never forget to acknowledge their success.
K-12 educators find it hard to maintain a balance in their students’ life. One cannot shrug off family problems. And as kids, they will find it more difficult to do so. As a k-12 teacher, you need to provide perfect guidance. You need to be more than a teacher – well not of course the boring preacher, but be the guardian. Build healthy relationships with your students by giving certain ones extra time and sit with them as they try to do their worksheets.
A K-12 educator can motivate a student to get better marks. The best way is to make the dream to study further with scholarship programs available for the bright child. Kids love breaking the rules, you can also break the monotony of droning classes. Take them to a museum, and hold a history class right there. A biology class can shift to the zoo and the physics class can get exciting in the science theme park.
