Writing an essay is not an easy task. Especially for students who come from a computer science background and there are a few who don’t have the skills needed to write a quality essay. They will have to pick up the writing skills needed to work in the real world, so here are a few tips on how to write scholarship essays.
Choose an interesting topic
This is one of the most essential aspects of writing a scholarship essay. There are some scholarships where they give you a topic, though you might have to tailor these topics to express one of the following issues. Focusing on these problems will increase your chances greatly in winning the scholarship.
1. Target on a major accomplishment
The target is to allure the reader, so when writing about a major accomplishment, you should make them say “wow”, the person has nailed it. Remember that an accomplishment that you may or may not be major to the reader’s eyes. For instance, writing about how you can stuff two cakes in your mouth is something you can forget.
2. Target the event where you took action
The tutors who might be checking your scholarship essays light love initiative. This means that you pursued actively to satisfy that need. Some instances of this are being the ASB member, starting up a club by guiding out less fortunate children, etc. People who perform less activities are most likely going to achieve in life and the readers know this, so implement your benefit here.
3. Target on an obstacle you overcame
Here, you will have to focus on the adversity that has happened in your life and how you struggled to overcome in. Some instances might be the loss of a parent, staying with a divorced parents, having disability and much more. These are a kind of circumstances where, when you express it to someone, they give you this sweet face and say “I’m sorry”. When you write about this event, it’s important that your target is on how you overcame these struggles and to stay positive. When a reader finishes your scholarship essays, you might want them to tell “Wow, this person has faced a lot, and deserves a scholarship”.
Research your topic
When you start to apply for your college admission or scholarship, you might realize that you will have to write a pile of essays! You feel that you can tackle it easily and focus on quantity instead of quality, but this must not be the case. This is a path of rejection.
Spend time and give yourself at least two weeks to research the topic of the essay. This will allow you to think twice and you will have plenty of time for editing and feedback.

Always remember to proofread your essays. Students mostly just do this process themselves for twice or thrice. But it is always recommended to show it to your parents or other tutors.
